Trip to North Carolina with a D.C. driveby (not a shooting)
Thankfully, Nintendo and all its wonders made our 10 hour drives to and from the North Carolina Schneiders relatively easy ones. When we arrived, we were greeted by two very excited little girls - beautiful cousins Lexi and Madeline. The foursome were fearsome at times with all of their energy. Considering they really didn't know each other until we reunited them last week, they got along just fine. Madeline was putting her shoes on to join us on the ride home when Uncle Kevin had to explain to her she couldn't go.
The visit was spent primarily taking the kids to various parks, playplaces and a wonderful children's museum / zoo. Most other time was spent simply lounging in the beautiful home of the NC Schneiders where Madeline favored us with her dancing and toddler talk. The boys taught the girls about the virtues of Super Mario Brothers (in all formats), being loud and running around the house. The weather was quite nice while it poured here in the Hudson Valley.
There was an unexpected visit from the plumber when Aunt Kim got a little too adventurous with a toilet (oh, let's just let everyone think on that for awhile). Aunt Kim was also behind the wheel when her SUV decided not to let her shift out of park. The Schneider men diagnosed the problem and Uncle Kevin's wallet took care of the rest.
After much thought, we decided to break up the trip home in Washington, D.C. The boys breezed through the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum and the National Museum of Natural History (it will be more valuable to them next time we go). Fortunately, those fine places are on the Mall where the pics of the Capitol Building and Washington Monument were taken. Daddy really really wanted them to see the White House and other notable spots. It didn't happen. Jack simply couldn't take anymore.
We hope to see everyone in NC soon.
