The first post of 2011 is dedicated to announcing the addition of Skittles to the family. She came straight to us from an old lady ... with a 3 month stay at the local pound in between. Yes, we "saved" Skittles, the short hair, from the local SPCA (it is a "no kill" shelter - unless it's absolutely necessary) 3 weeks ago. We wanted to make sure she was healthy and adjusted before sharing this glorious news. Her vet says she is in excellent health other than requiring some dental work which the SPCA is going to take care of for us. When we're out of town, the vet will be happy to offer us the option of boarding Skittles at her pet resort complete with webcams for anxious owners and flat screen cable TV for the "guests". http://petnplayresort.com/
Skittles definitely prefers our house to the 2 x 2 newspaper lined cage she previously enjoyed. Within only a few hours of being home, she was sitting in our laps, sleeping with Quinn at night and, most importantly, crapping in the designated location. The boys are crazy about her and it was Cindy of all people who was lobbying Daddy quite a bit to make this happen. Daddy grumbled but was badly outnumbered. He has come around but instinctively Skittles seems to prefer the other 3 family members to him. She is a good cat.
